Thousand Trails Rv - Gate Closed on RV doing Extensive Damage
On 1/22/2018 at 4:00 PM, while entering Sunshine Holiday RV Resort, an Encore/1000 Trails RV Resort, 2802 West Oakland Park Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, Fl.
33311, 954-731-****, drove up to gate. No office or instructions visible. Saw post with keypad on left (we were on right side of road). My wife walked over and put in code listed.
Gate opened and I began to drive through when gate closed on RV, damaging driver side marker and fender. Notified Melida in office who said sometimes gate sees first vehicle, but not towed vehicle. Samantha, also in office, took photos of damage, as did I. There is a video of our entry.
They had no insurance information and told me to call manager, Keneshia Shepard at 954-270-****. Called and spoke with assistant manager Nicole Godin. She had no insurance information. Gave me Shepardโs # as 954-270-****.
Shepard said she viewed video and would make report. She would not give me insurance information, but said they would call me. No one called.
I finally tracked down that they are self insured. They said not their fault.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
Monetary Loss: $4000.
Preferred solution: Company pay for damages to my RV.
Thousand Trails Rv Cons: Would not give me insurance information.

Very messed up company, no regard to child welfare, beware!
Not a daycare. YOU are responsible for your child's welfare.
Every RV Park I have ever stayed at that had a gate usually stays open almost 2 mins. If you waited for your wife to get back in then it isnโt really their fault.
That would be your chose instead of going straight in you to sites and wasted time. Iโm not saying you are wrong just that there are tidbits of information missing in your tale. Bits of info that really would differentiate fault if any. I know that in your mental state you wish to make them look as bad as possible and make yourself look as blameless as you can.
Itโs understandable. But, that can cause lasting damages that in the end may cost you as this is a public site. This means you have given enough information that they would be able to find and sue you. Defamation costs especially if a Judge thinks so.
I only say this as a reminder that nothing is ever deleted from the web. As such old posts can come back to haunt you. Sometimes you get the bear sometimes the bear gets you.
That is the nature of life. Try writing you post without embellishments if any.
The gate started to close after about 20 seconds. When I reported this to the person doing registration, she said that sometime the gate sees the first vehicle, but not the second.
This indicates to me this has happened before, and they knew of the defect. Another couple told me the gate closed on them, also, but did not do any damage. This, coupled with the fact that Encore RV Resorts has not responded to any of my calls and e-mails, re-enforces that they know they have a defected gate and are responsible.
Encore Resorts has not responded to any of my attempts to contact them.
