Thousand Trails Rv - Be smart. Don't join Thousand Trails
Nationwide membership paid in full. Member for over 10 years.
-Annual assessments in addition to monthly dues of $50.
-Visited parks in Florida, Washington, Oregon and Texas.
-Definitely not resorts.
-Employees forget that you are a member and the reason for their job.
-Infrastructure has years of deferred maintenance and neglect.
-Pools closed due to repairs. (Not open for years)
-Hot tub closed for repairs. (Closed for years)
-Roads so bad that they cause damage to vehicles.
-Many sites closed to members as they are leased on a yearly basis.
-Many sites are occupied by homeless in sub standard rv's.
-In work site areas, it looks like a single man construction camps.
-Electric service not updated. You are lucky to have 30 amp let alone 50 amp.
-Sites unlevel and muddy.
-If you are traveling, most parks are way off the commonly traveled roads.
Unless you are a full timer trying to live on the cheap, do your self a favor and stay in an independant park. They are better located, friendlier, cleaner and glad to have your business. We have yet to stay in an independant park that was inferior to Thousand Trails. By the way, Good Sam rates their parks with valuable criteria that we have found to be pretty accurate.
Tried to sell membership for $1500. No takers. No inquiries. Just cancelled membership before another assessment. No inquiry from Thousand Trails as to why we quit.

Why would they care to inquire? You paid for a lifetime membership, they only provided services to you for 10 years. They can now sell an exponentially more expensive membership to a new person.
With many more restrictions
Pretty darn accurate. Will add that member reservations are only guaranteed "a site, 30amp h/up and water h/up". I guess they intentionally left out 'functioning and safe' utilities.
